Brian Ruskin was born playing the guitar.

Well, not quite, but with a father like professional drummer Tommy Ruskin, music was definitely in his blood. Brian has been a working musician since 1983, playing in groups of many different styles including rock, jazz, country, soul, alternative, blues, gospel, and funk.

Brian began teaching professionally in 1990, and his experience with a wide variety of styles definitely comes through in his teaching. The performance and teaching of each style not only requires different techniques and tonalities; but also a different state of mind. As his student, Brian is able to help you fully explore those differences.

You may be interested in blues improvisation techniques, or picking speed, or finger-style. You might be a singer-songwriter needing to develop chord vocabulary and rhythm, or you might be interested in ear training or music theory. Brian is able to tailor lessons to your individual strengths and interests.
