Funky Monkey started when my son was just four months old,

as a baby he loved music and I wanted to encourage him

to develop his love further.

After achieving my BA (Hons) Degree in Acting/Music & Drama

at The Paul McCartney Stage School (LIPA), I was so happy to get the chance to inspire and shape the next generation’s love

of the arts and music and that was when Funky Monkey Music

was created.

 

Who’s Funky Monkey ?

He’s my little friendly monkey companion that little people can interact with, touch, feed and connect with. He’s cute, furry

and friendly and little ones adore him, some even enjoy a goodbye cuddle with him after the class!

 

Why Funky Monkey Music classes are different

Funky Monkey classes are unique and organic, so little ones can feel comfortable enough to express themselves freely. I absolutely adore children and love watching their little faces light up when

I bring out their favorite instrument or prop.

 

Recognizing that every child is different and unique I give encouragement in a gentle, positive way. Eventually even the most cautious of little ones feel comfortable enough to join in, with perhaps banging on the box or jumping along with the bouncing monkeys. I get such pleasure from watching my Funky Monkey friends develop and grow into confident, assured little people.

 

Even though Funky Monkey Music Classes are very much structured, (following the recommendations of The Early Years Foundation Stage) I sometimes indulge them in a request for

a favorite song. I want classes to feel fluid and fun, so much fun that they may not even realise they are learning! All accompanying grown-ups are also actively encouraged to join in with the music-making, as by sharing music and songs with your child you will help them to develop important life skills as well as giving them a life long appreciation of music.
